What do the different colors of Artemis LED lights mean?

Quick answer:



When one of the following lights (yellow, green, or cyan) is on when the Artemis is in use -> The device is operating normally



Yellow LED light



When power is switched ON


- Is visible also if Artemis restarts

- Wait for the light to start flashing green

- The device is operating normally


When the device is used


- A yellow light while using Artemis indicates that the device is downloading data

- You can continue to use the device normally if the device position gets updated via Tracker Live

- The device is operating normally


While charging the device


- The LED ligth is either yellow or green

- The device is charging

- The battery is full when LED light is green or all lights are completely off

- The device is operating normally




Green LED light



When the device is used


- The green LED light is flashing

- The device is operating normally




Cyan LED light



When the device is used


- Audio sample recording is in progress

- The device is operating normally




White LED light



When the device is used


- Bright (flashing) white LED light that increases the safety and visibility of the dog


How to switch on the white led light


- From your "Targets' -list -> tap the name (not the icon) of the target that is using Artemis GPS device

- Or, if the target in question is already shown on the map, slide open the target's own menu from the bottom of the screen


- Then, from opening "Settings" -menu, select menu item "LED mode"

- From the right side of this "LED mode" menu item, you'll find a big X and if you tap that, it switches off the white LED light if it's switched on at the time

- Tap "LED mode" menu item and then select the time it's used (min: 15min - max: 12h)

When the Artemis collar has a yellow light that does not turn green or a red light when it is being charged, power switched on, or the device is used, everything is not OK and the following actions are required



Red LED light



While charging the device


- The device is in a fault condition (error, malfunctioning, etc.)

- The red LED is flashing

- Check the charger and charging cable

- Disconnect the charger from the wall outlet and the GPS device from the charger and wait a few minutes

- Reconnect the charger to the wall outlet and connect the GPS device to the charger and try again

- Charging works at a temperature of +5 to +30

- Note! Use only the Artemis' own charger and charging cable included in the package!

- You can also test with another Artemis charger that is known to work OK, if available

- If the problem was resolved when tested with another charger, then Artemis is ok, but the device's own charger is broken

- If necessary, you can also try to reset the GPS device back to the basic settings, i.e. the so-called factory settings


The Artemis GPS device's charger has a warranty of 6 months from the date of purchase (more information on warranty conditions can be found here)



If needed, a new charger can be bought from your local Tracker Retailer



When the device is switched ON


- The device is in a fault condition (error, malfunctioning etc.)

- If the red LED still stays switched ON, try restarting the device

- If the problem was not resolved by restarting the device, you can try to reset the GPS device back to the basic settings, i.e. the so-called factory settings

- If the red LED still stays switched ON, regardless of everything done so far, you should send the GPS device to Tracker Service / Maintenance

- Tracker Oulunsalo Service handles Artemis GPS device's maintenance (also outside warranty)

- If You would need to consult the Tracker Oulunsalo Service before sending the Artemis GPS device for maintenance, you can call them or send a Service request



When the device is used

- Take the device outdoors (if the problem occurred indoors) and turn off Artemis and restart

- If the problem was not resolved by restarting the device, you can try to reset the GPS device back to the basic settings, i.e. the so-called factory settings

- If there is power, the device is out and restarting or resetting will not help and the light will remain red -> The Artemis should be sent to Tracker Service / Maintenance

- If You would need to consult the Tracker Oulunsalo Service before sending the Artemis GPS device for maintenance, you can call them or send a Service request




Yellow LED light



If the yellow light stays on continuously and does not turn green or turns red


- Restart the device

- If the problem was not resolved by restarting the device, you can try to reset the GPS device back to the basic settings, i.e. the so-called factory settings

- If the problem still persists, regardless of everything done so far, you should send the GPS device to Tracker Service / Maintenance

- Tracker Oulunsalo Service handles Artemis GPS device's maintenance (also outside warranty)

- If You would need to consult the Tracker Oulunsalo Service before sending the Artemis GPS device for maintenance, you can call them or send a Service request







In those situations where the Artemis is logged in to the Tracker Live service (even momentarily) despite the problem, i.e. it is possible to get some connection to this GPS device, then Tracker's technical support can also help, so call or send a Support request 


If the Artemis does not seem to respond to anything anymore e.g. 


  • Restarting the device fails when you -> open the "Settings" menu for Artemis -> tap the 3dots icon at the upper right corner -> restart the device
  • The device doesn't get connected to Tracker Live -service (not even when fully charged, with good network coverage and not even when waiting a good few mins between restarts and the SIM-card balance is ok)


Then Tracker's techsupport will not be able to help out. But first, before sending the Artemis over to Service/Maintenance, contact Tracker Oulunsalo Service by sending a Service request (on web form, select: Message subject -> Service)
