What does this mean in practice: The status information of the “My position” (GSM signal, number of satellites, etc.) either does not update correctly or is not updated at all
This is because on some phones this information may not be read from the device, either due to the phone's chipset or some other problem with the phone itself. Sometimes the fault can only affect some networks, e.g. 2G and 3G may work ok and at the same time 4G may not.
The status information for "My position" is displayed through the menu at the bottom of the map view:
When using the App, some information is also displayed in the notification bar at the top of the screen
The Tracker logo icon may vary and its meaning for using the application is explained in this guide
Similarly, your phone's own notification settings affect what information is displayed in the notification bar
iOS - instructions for changing notification settings
Android - instructions for changing notification settings
Whenever you encounter error messages or other error conditions, you should make sure that the App is updated
Let's take one example of these possible errors in "My position" status information:
- If the wind direction in "My position" status information menu doesn't match with the real wind direction, it's not always an error in the App
The following instructions have covered the phone and application settings that may affect the situation
(e.g. permissions required by Apps, compass settings, time settings, power management settings)
iOS - Why my own position is not shown on map or not updated at selected frequency?
iOS - Why my friend cannot track me?
Android - Why my own position is not shown on map or not updated at selected frequency?
Android - Why my friend cannot track me?
In some situations, it may be helpful to uninstall and reinstall the App or reset the App and its settings
