How do I install Tracker App or transfer it to another device?

You can download the Tracker App from your phone's own App Store:


iOS devices: Apple App Store

Android devices: Google Play Store


Type "Tracker Hunter" on App Store search 

When the right product is found, tap "Install"

Follow the instructions given on-screen


The most important information to get correct is your phone number, for SMS verification code is sent to that number


- You will receive a message from "Tracker Oy" -> "Tracker Verification code: 123456 ABcdEfGhI1J"
- Then you enter that six-digit Verification Code at the application prompt
(those 11 letters/numbers shown after the first six-digits, are not usually needed)
- After this, the application is registered for your use and you can delete the Verification Code sent to your phone as a text message, as it is no longer needed after this step. It is a one-time installation-only code that ensures that the phone number you enter during product registration is the number you use



Installing the App - When the product is already registered: Login

For existing customers, after giving the phone number that matches to registration found on Tracker servers, the installation automatically synchronizes that license key along with all the additional information used (targets, etc.) to a new installation of Tracker App.


Note!

If You create a new share name it has an empty target's list and no previous history on Tracker Live -service. Then you have to add dog GPS devices you would like to track. In case you need assistance upon Tracker App installation, you can contact Tracker Support or send a Support request, our support team will inform you how to proceed


If there are several hundred items, groups, waypoints, etc., synchronization may take some time, so make sure that the Internet connection used by the application is not lost during data synchronization.

Device power management settings are often the cause if the Internet connection used by the application is lost during data synchronization

Installing the App - New customer: Register or use Bypass -option

If you are a new customer and choose not to login / sign-in with previous license information (new customers usually don't have them) then you can also proceed without



Register

Give name, email address and a phone number > Proceed > You get informed that you're now using a free version of the product for evaluation purposes and that it is valid for 14 days starting from the day you installed the app


Bypass

Proceed without product registration. Then you can track your own position on the map, but Tracker App features are limited, compared to a customer with a paid active license or to a customer who has registered the product during installation. This means e.g. that you are not able to use Tracker Live service (for Tracker LIve this is part of the paid license)


Note! 

Free 14 days evaluation period gives access to all Tracker live services. But, it is only offered for a completely fresh user. If you have used Tracker App in the past and any of your IDs e.g. IMEI or Phone Number or device ID are already registered in Tracker live server, the free 14 days trial version will be not available. In case you need assistance upon Tracker App installation, you can contact Tracker Support or send a Support request, our support team will inform you how to proceed. 


You can later on buy "Tracker - Annual License" or "Tracker Live Daily pass to activate a one-day (24hrs) or 1-year full license for the Tracker App. You can buy these from your local Tracker Retailer

Android device does not continue to install the App after entering the phone number?

The usual suspect is a missing permission for SMS messages in Google Play -store and/or Google Play Services system settings in your Android device



- Open "Settings" menu from your device and then "Applications" or "Application manager"

- On some Android devices these permissions can be found on "Privacy" -settings (or "Apps & notifications")

- Then open "Permissions" and then look for "SMS messages"

- Give permission to use SMS messages for Google Play -store and Google Play Services - system app



On different manufactures their devices may use other naming policies for their menu items than the ones mentioned above. 


If that's the case with your phone or tablet and you're not sure how to gain access or how to grant permissions for SMS messages for these Google Play -store and Google Play System Services apps, then please contact the technical support for your device (device retailer, manufacture or Google tech.support)


Once the SMS verification is passed, you can remove the SMS permissions given to Google Play -store and Google Play Services - system app, for Tracker App installation use SMS verification only once during its installation process.

How do I install the App to a device that has no SIM card?

The device you are installing the Tracker application on, doesn't need to have a SIM card


- Once you have installed the Tracker App and open it the first time it asks to accept terms and conditions etc.

- Then Tracker App asks for a phone number to be used for the SMS authentication message



This is the point where the installation process differs from one done with a device that has a SIM card on it


- First, unselect the option for automatic sign-in / login (you'll find this option just below the phone number -menu item)

- You can use any phone number that you have at your disposal and could be used for the next step: SMS verification

- Once the phone number is verified, select the license key from the list displayed next and then select the Share name

- Installation is now complete

- When you open the message folder on your phone, you will see a message from "Tracker Oy"
- You open the message and you see the message: "Tracker Verification code: 123456 ABcdEfGhI1J"

2. Activate the App with the license key you wan't to use


Then you will be given a list of license key's that were linked to the phone number given

- You can either tap the license key listed or, if it's not mentioned on the list: Tap "None of these"

- Then you are given an option to enter license key you wan't to use with the App

- If you get an error message that the license key used is incorrect or not found, contact Tracker Support or send us a Support request



3. Select the Share name you would like to use


- The next step gives a list of share names from which you can tap  and select the one you want to use

- If the share name is not listed on this menu contact Tracker Support or send us a Support request

- If you would like to create a new share name, select "None of these" and create a new one

I want to transfer the App to another device, how do I do it?


DO NOT move the application to a new device from a cloud service backup, but perform a new clean installation!



The device where the application has been installed (device no.1)


If the phone number used by the application changes:

- Open  the left side menu -> Tap: "Settings" -> Tap: "License" -> Tap: "Phone number"

- Enter a new phone number and confirm the change with the SMS verification code displayed in the SMS that was sent to the new phone number

- Once the new phone number has been confirmed: Open the left side menu  -> Tap: "Settings" -> Tap: "License" -> Tap: "Release license"


If the phone number used by the app stays the same:

- Open the left side menu -> Tap: "Settings" -> Tap: "License" -> Tap: "Release license"



The device to which the application is transferred (device no.2)


If you have only one license key that you use:

- Actually, all you have to do is enter the phone number used by the application on the previous device and all other information (license key, share name, targets -list, etc.) will be synchronized to this new device based on the phone number given during installation of the App


If you have two or more license keys that you use:

- Deselect "Automatic login / sign in" below the phone number during the installation
- Then enter the phone number that the App used on device no.1
- Next you can then select the license key and share name that you would like to use with the App on this device no.2



Once these steps are done, then the installation process proceeds just as it normally would
