June 24, 2024 - August 21, 2024: There was an error with the Tracker Safety "Off" setting. This meant that all users and devices were treated as if they had the Safety feature turned "On" for other users. We noticed the issue at 20th August and fixed it immediately.
The error has now been fixed.
Who was affected:
Regarding your own location:
- You had the app turned on and Safety turned off during this period.
- At the same time, someone else was in the same area, within 2 km, using the Tracker app with Safety turned on.
- They could see your anonymous location. You appeared as "Person".
- However, you couldn't see them because your local app setting was Safety off.
Regarding your dog's location:
- You had the dog tracking device on and Safety turned off for your dog during this period.
- At the same time, someone else was in the same area, within 2 km of your dog, using the Tracker app with Safety turned on.
- They could see your dog's anonymous location. You appeared as "Dog".
- However, you couldn't see them, even if you were within 2 km of those people, because your local app setting was Safety off.
